Mike Broggi, Ph.D.

Neuropsychology Post-Doctoral Fellow

Dr. Broggi is a post doctoral fellow at NCMA with years of experience in neuropsychology. From 2011 to 2015 he was part of a clinical-research team at Brown University’s Memory and Aging Clinic that developed new diagnostic instruments and measured the effectiveness of interventions for Alzheimer’s disease, Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, and Parkinson’s Disease.

In 2014, he joined the Speech, Reading, and Cognition Lab at Southern Connecticut State University. He earned his master’s degree there and was awarded a graduate student research fellowship award for developing a new screening test to detect dyslexia in college students. Dr. Broggi has gone on to publish peer-reviewed research and present research at conferences on ADHD, learning disabilities, concussion recovery, and dementia.

Dr. Broggi completed his doctorate at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. His graduate training included conducting neuropsychological evaluations with UMass athletes and veterans at the VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare system. Dr. Broggi also spent several years providing individual and group Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) at the UMass Psychological Services Center. He moved to Maine in 2022 to complete his clinical neuropsychology internship at VA Maine. There, he continued providing neuropsychological evaluations and gained extensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and cognitive compensatory skills training.

Throughout his graduate training and since, one of Dr. Broggi’s passions has been teaching. He taught undergraduate psychology courses at UMass and supervised doctoral students on their neuropsychology rotations at the UMass Psychological Services Center. At NCMA, he continues to make psychoeducation a priority in all his meetings with individuals and their families to ensure they understand the results of an evaluation and have all the necessary information needed to create meaningful change.

A guiding question throughout Dr. Broggi’s clinical training and research endeavors has been “What is being left out?” His goal in every evaluation is to create a safe and relaxed environment to answer this question so he can provide recommendations that will improve the lives of individuals and their families.
